Writer update

Posted: February 21, 2012 in Uncategorized

Julie is working on two new play scripts (more details in the coming months) and embarking on a couple of new collaborations.  She will, once again, be a guest tutor at the Festival Of Writing organised by the National Association of Writers’ Groups at Nottingham University in August.  In the meantime the e-publication of The Last Cuckoo script has gone through the 27,000 readers mark!  It’s still, and will remain, FREE to read on-line.  Click HERE to go to the script.

24,000 script readers

Posted: January 25, 2012 in Uncategorized

We continue to be amazed by the number of readers hitting The Last Cuckoo e-script site – over 24,000 since the script was posted in October 2010.   To go to the script click HERE.  You can also DOWNLOAD copies of The Last Cuckoo and Julie’s Verity Bargate Award short-listed play PUNCH at BUSHGREEN

We are so overwhelmed by the success of the e-script that we are considering developing a book publication that would contain the full script along with an extended essay/interview with Julie Bokowiec that explores the circumstances that gave rise to the script, reveals her research, uncovers her inspirations, delves into the writing process, and unpicks the scripts’ complex ecology.

Award Nomination

We are very pleased to announce that the script of The Last Cuckoo has been nominated for the 20th Meyer-Whitworth Award.  We are all crossing our fingers for success.  Julie is just thrilled to have a piece of work nominated.

October 9th – The Song

Paul Copley with singer songwriter Alan Rudkin rehearsing ‘Making Time’  the club/pub number in the show.  We’re all sat on the sidelines singing along to Alan’s incredibly catchy number…and loving Paul’s performance as his character Ethan Page re-lives the memory of that boozy night he got up on stage and belted out that soppy song!  Fantastic.

Here’s Alan singing a full studio version of ‘Making Time’ – enjoy…
